Boy or Girl? Find out with the Chinese Gender Chart
Legend has it that the formula for calculating the gender of a child – the Chinese gender chart – was discovered in an ancient imperial tomb about 700 years ago. A copy of the document is preserved in the Beijing Institute of Science. According to the writings, this hidden information was used by the Chinese nobility during the Tang Dynasty (1644-1911 CE).
Towards the end of the dynasty, the empire was taken over by a coup. The national forces united, and much valuable information, including the formula for determining the gender of the child, was taken. This document accidentally came into the hands of an English nobleman who translated it, used it, and published it.
The formula allows for predicting the gender of the child or planning the time of conception accordingly.

The Chinese Calendar - The Chinese Chart
The Chinese pregnancy calendar is based on Yin and Yang, the Five Elements, and the Eight Trigrams. To predict the baby's gender, you need the mother's age according to the Chinese calendar and the month of conception. According to the lunar calendar, you should add one year to the mother's current age.
Why add a year? The ancient Chinese also added the nine months spent in the mother's womb to the baby's age. For example, if you are a woman born in June 1980. According to the Western calendar, in 2007 you are 27. But according to the Chinese lunar calendar, you are 28 (the nine months you spent in your mother's womb were added). The mother's age in the formula is limited to birth up to age 45, a matter of culture.
What else is important to know about the Chinese calendar?
Each month starts on a different day. If conception occurred on March 4th, you are still considered part of February according to the Chinese calendar. So, if you were born before February 4th in any year, calculate your birth year one year back. Someone born in January 1980 is considered to have been born in 1979.
So how will you know what to expect?
If you were 35 on the day of conception and conception occurred in January, find the intersection in the chart between "January" and the mother's age "35". It says "Son" - meaning, the chart claims you are carrying a male fetus.
Now that you've discovered what's hiding in your belly, all that's left is to wait a little longer and hear your doctor tell you what the Chinese have already found out about you...
